OPP seize large quantity of cannabis products during traffic stop

SHUNIAH, Ont. – A 25-year-old British Columbia man is facing charges after being found with nearly two kilograms of cannabis and cannabis bi-products during a Shuniah traffic stop.

Provincial police officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 11/17 on Wednesday afternoon for a speeding violation and became aware of possible criminal activity, the OPP said in a news release.

Police seized 181 grams of dried cannabis, nearly 900 grams of hashish and 838 grams of THC concentrate.

The accused, who was the passenger in the vehicle, was arrested and charged under the Cannabis Act and is scheduled to appear in a Thunder Bay courtroom next month. The female driver of the vehicle has been charged with several Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act offences.
