A new push is on to solve a 44-year-old double homicide case in Thunder Bay.

The Northwest OPP has scheduled a news conference for Monday morning regarding the mysterious murders of Doreen Hardy and Jane Bernard.

The OPP had previously offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the long-standing cold case. Hardy was 18 and Bernard was 43 when they disappeared back in August of 1966.

They were last seen on Cumberland Street getting into a car driven by a Caucasian man in his early 20s.

Their bodies were found the next day in McGregor Township near Sandy Beach. They had both been strangled to death.

OPP officials say Monday's news conference will address the criminal investigation into their murders, and family members of the two women will be in attendance.
