Oshawa resident faces charges following pursuit

IGNACE, Ont. – An Oshawa resident has been taken into custody following a pursuit on Saturday.

According to an Ignace OPP release, police were requested to assist in locating a suspect on Saturday from an incident that took place in Dryden.

Officers conducted patrols throughout Ignace and along Highway 17.

Police say just before 2 pm. Information was received that the suspect was currently at a gas station in Ignace.

The suspect departed the gas station, striking a pedestrian.

Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop when police activated their emergency lights.

The suspect vehicle fled form the police and continued eastbound on Highway 17.

A short time later, Thunder Bay OPP located the suspect vehicle and arrested the suspect.

A 37-year-old from Oshawa has been charged with theft under $5,000, flight from peace officer, dangerous operation and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused remains in custody.
