A man being held in connection with an unsuccessful bank robbery attempt had a brief court appearance Tuesday.
The incident happened Monday afternoon at the County Fair Plaza branch of TD Canada Trust. According to the Crown Attorney's office, a man entered the bank and presented a teller with a note demanding cash.
But the teller, who reportedly thought the incident was a hoax, threw the note back at the would-be thief, who then left empty handed. A 52-year-old man later turned himself in at the Balmoral Police Station. An Ottawa man has been charged with Robbery.
Officials say the man is also a suspect in robberies at TD Canada Trust banks in Ottawa, Brampton and Winnipeg. He's back in court on Friday.
