The Ottawa Police Service is in contact with Thunder Bay police following the arrest of a man wanted in connection with a homicide in the nation's capital.
32-year-old Jonathan Ranger was apprehended in Thunder Bay on the weekend.
"We confirm he has been arrested by Thunder Bay police regarding another matter," Ottawa police constable Chuck Benoit said.
It's believed that Ranger is one of the four people arrested late Sunday night after what Thunder Bay police described as two high-risk vehicle stops and a search at a north-side residence. The suspects were taken into custody on weapons and drug-related charges.
In a media release issued by Ottawa police last May, they said Ranger should be considered "armed and dangerous." This followed an incident in which a 30-year-old Ottawa man died from gunshot wounds, and a woman was hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
In an interview today, Benoit told tbnewswatch.com that "We are making arrangements with the Thunder Bay police and we're coordinating things...The two police forces are speaking."
It's unclear yet whether the charges that Ranger faces in Thunder Bay will be dealt with before he is transferred to Ottawa where he was wanted on a warrant.
