Outbreaks declared at two Thunder Bay nursing homes

Respiratory illness has struck Hogarth Riverview Manor and Southbridge Pinewood.

THUNDER BAY — Health officials have announced the onset of the seasonal outbreaks of respiratory illness.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared outbreaks at two city nursing homes, Hogarth Riverview Manor on Lillie Street and Southbridge Pinewood on E. Walsh Street.

The Southbridge Pinewood outbreak is facility-wide, while the outbreak at Hogarth Riverview so far is confined to the Daffodil wing.

Admissions, transfers, discharges and social activities are cancelled at both facilities until further notice.
