THUNDER BAY – Summer is officially here.

The City of Thunder Bay on Friday announced its supervised beaches are opening on Saturday for another swim season.

Outdoor pools will open on Friday, coinciding with the final day of school.

“We are excited that Art Widnall Pool, Heath Park Pool and Boulevard Lake will be back in operation this summer along with Sandy Beach,” said Kim Begin, supervisor of aquatics, wellness, children and youth.

“Our facilities provide a free enjoyable space for people in our community to get outdoors, cool off and have some fun.”

Pools open Friday at 6 p.m., while the supervised beaches, including Boulevard Lake and Sandy Beach, will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Beach users are advised to adhere to signage noting swim conditions.
