THUNDER BAY — OPP and the Canadian Coast Guard were called out Tuesday evening to help search for a kayaker reported overdue from a paddle on Lake Superior.
Police said he was noticed missing at about 5:30 pm, and police were alerted around 7 pm.
A search was then initiated in the Mackenzie Beach area east of the city, but the individual was found a short time later by local boaters.
According to a coast guard spokesperson, a search and rescue crew from Thunder Bay located and picked up the kayaker.
A witness told Dougall Media the man was brought to shore shortly before 9 p.m., and that he appeared to be alright except for suffering from cold exposure.
Superior North EMS paramedics arrived on the scene to assess him.
