Pair face charges following search warrant in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES – A search warrant in Fort Frances has led to the arrest of two individuals.

On Wednesday, Jan. 5, Fort Frances OPP, Treaty Three Police Service, OPP Northwest Emergency Response Team and OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau conducted an investigation into drug trafficking.

Officers conducted a search warrant and seized a quantity of fentanyl, Canadian currency, evidence of trafficking and recovered stolen property were seized.

Police arrested and charged a 26-year-old with possession of a schedule I substance - fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Police also charged a 28-year-old with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both accused have been released by way of an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Feb. 22.
