Pair jump and beat man in early morning robbery

Police say two young men beat and robbed a 50-year-old man on the city’s south side early Monday morning. Thunder Bay Police Service officers say they responded to the area of Dease and McKenzie streets around 7 a.m.
Police say two young men beat and robbed a 50-year-old man on the city’s south side early Monday morning.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say they responded to the area of Dease and McKenzie streets around 7 a.m. after receiving reports of a robbery.

Police say they spoke with a 50-year-old man who said two young men jumped him, began punching him and then made off with his wallet.

The two suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money, while the victim sustained minor injuries.

Police say they checked the immediate area after responding to the robbery, but could not find the suspects.

Police describe both suspects as being young, skinny, Aboriginal men. Both suspects wore dark clothes and one wore a white hat at the time of the robbery.
