THUNDER BAY -- The 16th annual Parade of Lights is quickly approaching, and thousands of dollars is expected to be raised for several charities.

This year's event will take place on Dec. 6. The parade draws big crowds to see the transport trucks and other vehicles covered in Christmas lights.

This year, donations will be collected for the local chapter of Autism Ontario, the George Jeffery Children’s Centre, Special Olympics Ontario and the Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association.

This year's parade marshal is 10-year-old Riley Badanai.  Her dad, Norris, says she's looking forward to turning on the police siren.

Last year, more than $19,000 was raised during the parade.

Stephenson says they hope to surpass $20,000 to go towards the four charities.
