The warm weather means drivers won’t have to scramble to find a place to park.

The city on Thursday announced it was waiving calendar parking for the season, about two weeks ahead of its scheduled end.
City officials remind motorists that in the event of snow, the restrictions can be reinstated between now and the end of the month.
The decision was made in part based on the short-range forecast, combined with current conditions.

Some forecasters are calling for the mercury to hit as high as 20 C on the weekend.

Adam Krupper, Thunder Bay’s active transportation co-ordinator, also reminded cyclists that the city’s bike lanes are not yet open and that users do so at their own risk.

The bike lanes are expected to be swept and ready for riders by May 1.
