A large portion of the City's north side will be without power Thursday evening after a backhoe struck a primary electrical cable.
The electrical cable was damaged just before noon near the corner of South High Street and Second Avenue. Officials with the city's sewer and water division refused to comment on the incident.
Thunder Bay Hydro says Thursday night’s power shutdown will impact the immediate area is necessary in order to repair the cable.
The affected area is between John Street, South High Street, Second Avenue and Fort William Road.
Hydro officials say the scheduled power outage could last until midnight as crews work to fix the problem.
