A man attempted to strangle a taxi driver after the driver tried to stop his customers from fleeing without paying.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the taxi driver was driving two men and a woman to a Kenogami Street address around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When the driver arrived at the home, the three passengers attempted to flee without paying the fare.

In an attempt to stop the customers from fleeing, the cab driver grabbed one of the men and struggled with him.

Police say that’s when the second man attempted to choke the driver.

The driver escaped without injuries.
