THUNDER BAY — A female pedestrian was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision with a passenger vehicle Tuesday evening on the Thunder Bay Expressway.
Information about the person's condition was not available Wednesday morning.
The accident happened at the Red River Road intersection shortly before 6:48 pm.
Ontario Provincial Police said the victim was with a group of individuals who had attempted to run across the highway from Red River Road to Dawson Road when she was struck by an eastbound crossover SUV.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed until early Wednesday morning while police processed the scene.
The collision remains under investigation.
