SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a person struck and killed by train in Sioux Lookout.

Police, in a release issued Thursday afternoon, said they responded to a report Thursday around 12:06 a.m. of a person being struck by a Canadian National Railway train in the Canadian National Train yard in the area of Third Avenue and Front Street.

Upon police arrival, the involved person was found to be deceased.

A post mortem examination will be held on Sept. 6 in Kenora to confirm positive identification of the deceased person, and to allow for notification of next of kin.

The Sioux Lookout OPP and CN Railway Police Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident, but foul play is not suspected at this time.
