Person struck and killed by train west of Ignace

Police say foul play not suspected at this time.

ILSLEY TOWNSHIP, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the death of a person allegedly struck and killed by a train in Ilsley Township, west of Ignace. 

Police, in a release issued on Friday morning, said they received a report at about 4 p.m. on Thursday indicating someone had been hit by a Canadian Pacific Railway train. Upon arrival the person involved was found deceased.

A post-mortem is scheduled in Toronto to confirm positive identification of the victim and allow for notification of next-of-kin.

The victim’s gender has not been released.

The investigation of the circumstances surrounding the death continue, but foul play is not suspected at this time, police said.
