THUNDER BAY – Former Liberal cabinet minister Jane Philpott is taking on a new role with Nishnawbe Aski Nation.

Philpott, a medical doctor prior to her election to Parliament in 2015, will take on a medical advisory role with NAN.

“Delighted to be invited by (Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler) to be a special adviser on health and support the work of health transformation in (Nishnawbe Aski Nation),” tweeted Philpott, who earlier this year resigned from cabinet and was later expelled from caucus over her stance on the SNC-Lavalin affair.

“Amazing progress already well underway with the leadership of Ovide Mercredi and many others, including (Mae Katt).

Philpott also served as Indigenous Services minister under the Trudeau Liberals.
