PICKLE LAKE - Members of the Pickle Lake OPP would like to remind motorists of some "Lock It or Lose It" guidelines to prevent motor vehicle theft after receiving a report of a stolen vehicle.

Pickle Lake officers responded to a report of a vehicle being stolen from a business near Highway 599, sometime between Oct. 28 and Nov. 22, 2021. The vehicle has been recovered, approximately 20 kilometres south on Highway 599. Members of the public who have information regarding this investigation are urged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can be provided anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or online at ontariocrimestoppers.ca.

The OPP are requesting assistance from the public in preventing these crimes of opportunity by following some simple tips:
•    Always roll up your vehicle's windows, lock the doors and pocket the key. Don't leave a spare key inside your vehicle.
•    Never leave your vehicle unattended while it is running.
•    If you have a garage, use it and lock the door as well as your vehicle.
•    Never leave your car keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area.
•    Keep your vehicle registration certificate and proof of insurance on you at all times. Don't leave these documents in your glove compartment.
•    Always park your vehicle in a well-lit area.
•    Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk.
•    Give only your ignition key to a parking lot attendant. Keep all other keys with you.
