PIKANGIKUM FIRST NATION — Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 51-year-old woman with Aggravated Assault in connection with an incident that left a baby in medical distress.

OPP issued details Tuesday of their investigation into a September 2017 incident on the Pikangikum First Nation.

According to police, officers were notified by Tikinagan Family and Child Services that an infant child had been taken to hospital in Winnipeg with serious injuries.

The baby had been living in one of their agency-operated houses.

The accused woman is being held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 25.

OPP are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
