OTTAWA -- Thunder Bay right-hander Jack Pineau's dream of making the Canadian national junior baseball team took a big step forward on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-2 hurler was named to Canada's junior national team's selection camp, scheduled to take place over 10 days in Ajax, Ont., starting on Saturday. A total of 20 players will advance to the WSBC's U18 Baseball World Cup next month in Florida.

Canada is slated to play exhibition games against the United States, Australia and Chinese Taipei on Sept. 4-6 at the Toronto Blue Jays spring training facility in Dunedin, Fla.

Canada opens the U18 Baseball World Cup on Sept. 9 against Korea, in Bradenton, Fla.
