THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s Jack Pineau has been named to Canada’s national junior baseball team’s spring camp roster.

Pineau is one of 19 pitchers invited to the camp, the precursor to Canada naming its team for the upcoming WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup, scheduled for Bradenton, Fla. next September.

He’s expected to take the mound three times during the 11-day camp, his second with the team. Pineau will toss three innings in an intra-squad game on April 13, three more against the Washington Nationals junior team on April 19, and two on April 23 against a split squad.

Coach Greg Hamilton said he’s looking forward to working with the group.

“The spring training camp provides an excellent opportunity to evaluate and develop players in a competitive environment while offering them glimpse into the higher levels of the game.”

Pineau is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound right-hander.

Thunder Bay hosted the world juniors in 2010 and 2017.
