Planning for that special day

Hundreds of brides and grooms took part in the 2018 Thunder Bay Spring Bridal Show.

THUNDER BAY - With a flurry of engagements coming on the heels of Christmas and Valentine’s Day, brides and grooms are eager to start planning for the big day.

Hundreds of brides and grooms were given an opportunity to see how to make that special day even more magical during the 2018 Thunder Bay Spring Bridal Show on Sunday.

“In reality, because of Christmas and Valentines, it’s the most common time for people to become engaged,” said show manager, Andre Fitzgerald. “After the engagement, you want to start thinking about your wedding. So you may not be getting married for a full year, but it’s exciting and you want to start your wedding planning and speak with the professionals.”

Being the largest wedding show in Northern Ontario, more than 75 local and regional exhibitors were on hand to help brides and grooms plan their big day. Everything from catering, to floral arrangements, to the all-important dress were on display.

The day also included fashion shows of dresses and suits, hair and makeup demonstrations, and contests that could see a bride and groom walk away with $7,500 in prizes.

“We expect to see approximately from 250 and 300 unique brides out to the show,” Fitzgerald said. “Yesterday we had over 265 who preregistered to come to the show.”

“Thunder Bay being such a fantastic, large community to be able to facilitate and bring in all the brides and grooms getting married throughout, not just Thunder Bay, but northwestern Ontario, it’s truly a northern event.”
