Police arrest 10 after multiple drug busts

Raids yield quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, Oxycodone and more than $23,000 in cash.

THUNDER BAY -- Ten people are facing charges after three drug busts over the last four days.

Thunder Bay police, along with the OPP and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, raided three addresses in the city within the last week. Officers seized quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, Oxycodone and more than $23,000 in cash.

Police executed a warrant on Nov. 9 on the 600 block of Red River Road, where they seized 17 grams of fentanyl, one gram of methamphetamine, paraphernalia believed to be involved in the drug trade and $1,400 in cash. That bust resulted in the arrests of 28-year-old Cale McDowell and 30-year-old Kazimir Tablowski, who are each charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

On Monday, police executed search warrants at two east end addresses with one on the 700 block of Pacific Avenue and another on the 200 block of Finlayson Street. 

Police seized 170 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl, which has an estimated street value of $85,000, along with 130 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine which would have an estimated street value of $9,800. They also found more than 500 pills believed to be Oxycodone, which would have a street value of $5,000. Eight people were arrested, five of whom are from the Greater Toronto area, and $22,000 in cash was found. 

All of those arrested are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. One of the accused, 21-year-old Aaron Small of Scarborough, had been wanted by the OPP on previous warrants for drug trafficking related charges.

Those eight suspects, which includes one youth, have been remanded into custody.
