Police arrest five, seize cocaine valued at $135K

THUNDER BAY — City police arrested five people during a drug bust at two south side homes over the weekend.

Thunder Bay police said two search warrants were executed on Saturday, one at a residential address on the 900 block of Syndicate Avenue South and the second at a residential address on the 2100 block of McGregor Avenue.

Police seized what they described as a significant quantity of suspected cocaine, along with cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. The drugs have an estimated street value of nearly $135,000, while the cash seized amounted to more than $16,500.

Five suspects were identified and arrested, including one who attempted to flee from officers but was later found in the Christina Street area.

All five, which include a 25-year-old from Victoria, B.C., a 35-year-old from Brampton, and a 17-year-old from Brampton, are charged with one count of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
