Police arrest robbery suspect

The suspect had robbed a Memorial Avenue restaurant 10 days prior to police spotting the suspect on Red River Road.

THUNDER BAY - A 29-year-old Thunder Bay woman accused of robbing a Memorial Street restaurant was spotted and arrested by police officers 10 days following the incident.

Thunder Bay Police were dispatched to a reported robbery Monday, July 29 around 10 p.m. at a restaurant located in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue.

Officers learned a woman in the restaurant took store merchandise from a display and attempted to leave.

An employee confronted her, and during this confrontation, the accused assaulted the employee. After a brief struggle, the accused fled the restaurant on foot toward Central Avenue.

Police were able to identify the accused during the subsequent investigation.

On Tuesday evening, an officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s uniform patrol division spotted and arrested the woman on Red River Road near Algoma Street.


The accused, a 29-year-old Thunder Bay woman, was arrested without incident and charged with robbery.

She was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
