THUNDER BAY — City police have arrested a 30-year-old man, charging him with a series of break-ins to local businesses that resulted in a total of $10,000 worth of merchandise stolen, along with several thousand dollars in damages.

Thunder Bay police alleged Ryan Glenn Marion, who was arrested last week, is connected to a total of six of incidents that took place between Dec. 23, 2022 and Jan. 4, 2023.

Police responded to a break-in at an outdoor equipment store on the 200 block of Pearl Street on Jan. 4, after a male suspect stole merchandise and fled. The investigation led police to determine that a nearby restaurant was also broken into on Dec. 30, 2022, and that the same suspect was responsible.

The suspect was identified and arrested on the afternoon of Jan. 4. Marion appeared in bail court on Jan. 5 and remains in custody with a future appearance date.

The continued investigation also found incidents at other businesses in the 200 block of Bay Street, 300 block of May Street, and zero-to-100 block of Court Street South.

Marion is charged with six counts of break and enter, five counts of breaching a probation order, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
