THUNDER BAY — A 43-year-old man has been arrested after a vandalism incident at a north side church that police have previously said appeared to be motivated by hate.

The Thunder Bay Police Service announced the arrest on Thursday morning, four months after the altar at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Red River Road was vandalized.

Police said the incident happened at some time between July 29 and 30, and the damage was done in a manner to intentionally disturb churchgoers.

Surveillance footage of the suspect was publicly released by police in early November.

Michael Joseph Watson, a 43-year-old Thunder Bay man, has been charged with break and enter to commit an indictable offence.
