THUNDER BAY – City police have arrested one man in connection with a Monday night robbery at a north side grocery store.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a reported robbery involving a weapon at Safeway on Dawson Road on Monday just before 10:30 p.m.
According to a media release, police learned the accused was leaving the Safeway with stolen merchandise. An employee confronted the accused in the store’s parking lot, at which point the accused brandished a weapon that appeared to be a knife.
The employee then called police.
Police located the man at Red River Road and Clarkson Street and he was arrested without incident.
A 33-year-old Thunder Bay man has been charged with robbery with a weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
