Police arrested a 46-year-old man after he allegedly attempted a day-time break-and-enter of a Westfort home Tuesday.
Thunder Bay Police Service officials say officers have been investigating a number of day-time break-and-enters involving a suspect on a mountain bike. An investigation led to a service-wide alert with a suspect description.
On Tuesday, a plain-clothes member of the community response team noticed a man fitting the description of the suspect on a mountain bike. Police say the suspect appeared to be acting suspicious in the Westfort area around 3:30 p.m.
A police office later witnessed the suspect enter a home on the 1300 block of South Edward Street.
The man exited the home about 90-seconds later carrying a jar.
Police confronted then arrested the suspect.
The suspect, who is on parole for other break-and-enter charges, was expected to appear in court via video Wednesday. He has been charged with break-and-enter to commit theft.
