Police arrest theft suspect

Private citizen saw suspect with his hockey bag that had allegedly been stolen from High Street building earlier in the day.

THUNDER BAY -- A private citizen who saw a man with his hockey bag that had allegedly been stolen earlier in the day apprehended the suspect while waiting for police to arrive.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the area of Tupper and Sheppard streets just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, where the 54-year-old man had restrained the male suspect. 

He had seen a man with his hockey bag that had been stolen in a break and enter at a High Street building earlier that day.

The accused has been charged with break, enter and theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He appeared in court and has been released with a future court date.
