Police arrest two after attempted robbery

Police arrested two suspects following an attempted Shuniah Street convenience store robbery Wednesday night. Thunder Bay Police Service officers say a man allegedly entered Whitehead’s Variety and attempted to take money from the cash register.
Police arrested two suspects following an attempted Shuniah Street convenience store robbery Wednesday night.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say a man allegedly entered Whitehead’s Variety and attempted to take money from the cash register. The man was not successful and fled the store.

Police officers responded and found a witness near the scene. That witness attempted to give police a description of the male suspect.

Later, officers stopped a vehicle near Margaret and Keith Streets just after 8:30 p.m.
Police took the female driver and her male passenger into custody.

A 30-year-old Thunder Bay man now faces charges of attempted theft and wearing a disguise. A 25-year-old Thunder Bay woman faces a charge of attempted theft.

Both are expected to appear in court Thursday morning.
