THUNDER BAY - An incident that caused police to barricade a south side street has ended peacefully.

Thunder Bay Police said in a release that they were called to a home on the 1300 block of Home Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon after receiving a 911 call from a woman who said she and her boyfriend were being held by a number of men with weapons.

Police secured the scene while gathering more information. The homeowners, who were out of town at the time, were contacted and informed police that there should not be anyone inside the home.

Just after 7 p.m., tactical officers entered the home and confirmed it was vacant. A search of the home uncovered a firearm and suspected drugs.

Police continue to hold the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
