THUNDER BAY -- Ontario Provincial Police officers working in North West Region will be partaking in the Easter Long Weekend Seatbelt Campaign which runs from Friday, March 30, 2018 to Monday, April 2, 2018. The focus of the provincial traffic initiative is to make sure that all occupants of vehicles are wearing seatbelts.

If you wear a seatbelt properly, you are more likely to survive a crash. Evidence shows that Ontario's seatbelt law works. All motor vehicle drivers and passengers must wear a seatbelt that is properly adjusted and securely fastened. Drivers are responsible to make sure that all passengers under the age of 16 are properly wearing seatbelts or in proper car seats.

A driver can be charged and face a fine totalling $240 and two demerit points for a seat belt infraction.

Traffic safety is everyone's responsibility. Buckle up and have a safe Easter Weekend.
