THUNDER BAY -- City police have arrested a suspect in connection with a pair of drugstore robberies.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials on Tuesday announced they had arrested Mark Kenneth Bailey, 44, on Oct. 12 without incident. That arrest follows an investigation into a pair of robberies that targeted two separate Shoppers Drug Marts.

Police say the suspect was in possession of a stolen licence plate that was on a vehicle matching the description as the one used to flee the Sept. 8 robbery of the Shoppers Drug Mart at Grandview Mall.

Another robbery of a Shoppers Drug mart was reported on Sept. 30 at 1186 memorial Avenue. Police say it is alleged that the suspect was also responsible for that robbery.

Bailey faces a charge of possession of stolen property under $5,00 along with two counts of armed robbery

The suspect remains in custody with a court date set for Oct. 15.
