THUNDER BAY — For the second time in less than a week in Northwestern Ontario, the operator of a transport truck has been charged with stunt driving.

The latest incident happened Saturday on Highway 17 near Dryden.

OPP recorded a tractor-trailer travelling through Wabigoon at 97 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

In addition to being charged with stunt driving, he lost his licence for 30 days, and the truck was impounded for two weeks.

On Aug. 27, the driver of a transport truck from Brampton was charged with stunt driving after he was tracked at 92 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Dawson Road in Thunder Bay.

OPP also nabbed a speeding driver on the holiday weekend on Highway 527, where they recorded a pickup truck travelling at 125 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

The driver, from Manitoba, told the officer he thought the legal limit was 100 km/h.

He received a ticket that carries a $341 fine and four demerit points.
