THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre says it plans to conduct a Code Black exercise on Thursday afternoon, in conjunction with area emergency services.

A Code Black is called when a bomb threat or suspicious package is suspected.

“Patients, visitors and staff can expect to see signage indicating that training is in progress,” the hospital wrote in a release posted to its Facebook page.

“If you’re nearby, you may hear a bang resulting from police activities on the perimeter of the hospital grounds. There is no need for concern.”

No interruption to patient services was expected and the exercise was expected to have minimal impact on staff and hospital operations.

“We’re happy to work with our community partners in law enforcement on exercises like this that help ensure the safety of everyone at our hospital.”
