Police continue to investigate death of Samatar Warsame

Police continue to investigate the death of a 21-year-old from the Greater Toronto Area one year later.

THUNDER BAY – Monday marks the one-year anniversary of the death of 21-year-old Samatar Warsame and police continue to investigate.

On Jan. 13, 2019, Samatar Warsame of the Greater Toronto Area was found dead on the shoulder of Highway 527, just north of the Highway 11/17 junction.

Ontario Provincial Police, OPP North West Region Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification are continuing their investigation into this death under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin.

"Someone knows something about what happened to Samatar Warsame. No detail is too small - you never know what might be the piece of information that helps us understand how this young man met his untimely death," Sigouin said in a release issued Monday.
