Police dispose of blasting caps

Police temporarily closed a section of Belrose Road to traffic in order to detonate a number of blasting caps found nearby.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call about someone locating explosives on their property on Friday. An officer with the explosives unit found the blasting caps near the owner’s shed. 

Police blocked off the area to traffic for a short period while the caps were disposed of through a controlled detonation just after 6 p.m.

Police want to remind everyone not to touch or handle any explosive items they may find and to always contact police.
