THUNDER BAY -- The murder charge has been dropped against one of the suspects in the death of a 25-year-old woman in a Cumming Street apartment earlier this week.

The Thunder Bay Police Service on Friday said their ongoing investigation has led to 34-year-old Roger Donald McKay being released unconditionally and no longer facing the first-degree murder charge.

Police had originally arrested four suspects, charging them all with first-degree murder in the killing of Ashley Chantal McKay after her body was found in a south side apartment during the early morning hours of Oct. 30.

The remaining suspects – 37-year-old Marlene Lou Kwandibens, 21-year-old Terryl Nicole Irene Michon and 24-year-old Darren Steven Oombash – remain behind bars.

Police said an autopsy is expected to be conducted in Toronto.
