THUNDER BAY -- Nearly two dozen organizations will participate this weekend in a two-day event in Thunder Bay providing information about job opportunities.

The Public Safety, Security and Health Recruitment Expo is scheduled for Friday, January 26 and Saturday, January 27 at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition Coliseum.

Several area police services, the Canada Border Services Agency, the armed forces, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue and Superior North EMS will be there, as well as representatives of area corporations and professional associations.

Organizers say it's Thunder Bay's premier employment event focusing on connecting organizations with individuals interested in exploring a career in these fields.

Expo spokesperson Jennifer Roukkula said "In exploring options for more active public engagement, it became clear that there are relatively limited local opportunities that focus specifically on the interesting work done by organizations that provide emergency, first response, public safety, corrections, policing and enforcement services in our communities."

Employers, recruiters and trainers will be available at the event to answer questions and provide specific information about the work their agencies do.

The expo's hours are 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
