Police find man dead in Deer Lake, arrest 26-year-old man

One man is dead, another is injured and a third man faces charges following an incident in the remote, fly-in community of Deer Lake First Nations.

Police were alerted to the situation when they were called to the community nursing station on Saturday evening. Officers arrived to find the body of a 27-year-old man who had been pronounced dead on scene. Another 27-year-old man was transported to the hospital in Thunder Bay for treatment.

Police have not disclosed any other details about the incident or the nature of the injuries involved.

Police have confirmed that a 26-year-old Deer Lake man has been charged with attempted murder.

The death is still under investigation as officers await the results from a post-mortem.
