Police hoping for new leads in 20-year-old murder

THUNDER BAY – Police are making an appeal for information on a 20-year-old homicide.

Alma Teravainen, 67, was killed on July 25, 2005, inside the Harbour Terrace Variety Store which she operated inside an apartment complex at 122 Cumberland Street South.

At the time, police canvassed the area, collected evidence and conducted numerous interviews, but were unable to pinpoint a suspect.

The major crimes unit of the Thunder Bay Police Service continues to investigate the homicide to this day.

Police are urging anyone who might have information about the case to come forward, adding any new information could be key to providing investigators with the lead they may need to crack the case and bring the assailant to justice.
