Police ID victim in Lac Seul First Nation death

LAC SEUL FIRST NATION -- Police have identified the victim of a sudden death investigation in Lac Seul First Nation.

Ontario Provincial Police say 50-year-old Wanda Beardy of Sioux Lookout was found dead on Aug. 9, after police and emergency medical services were called to a Frenchman's Head residence to respond to a woman in medical distress.

Police say they are not releasing any further details about the investigation, noting they were called into assist by the Lac Seul Police Service. The Office of the Coroner is heading the investigation surrounding the circumstances of the death.

There is no risk to public safety at this time, police added.
