THUNDER BAY – A woman wanted for forcing her way into a south-side Thunder Bay home has been identified by city police.
In a release issued on Tuesday, Thunder Bay Police say they are looking for 32-year-old Ashley Marie Collins.
On Monday, just before 1 p.m., a 69-year-old McKenzie Street homeowner opened her front door to find a female demanding to speak to the owner. Upon opening the door, the woman forced her way inside the home, stole a purse and fled the scene in a vehicle.
Police say they located the vehicle a short distance away and using information gathered during their investigation, were able to identify the suspect.
Collins, 32, is described as an Aboriginal woman with light skin, large brown eyes and long, straight black hair.
She stands 5-foot-10 and has a thin build.
A warrant has been issued for her arrest to face charges of break and enter to commit robbery and breach of probation.
This is the fourth such incident to occur recently where a female suspect knocked on the door of a residence and used different means to gain entry into the home.
In none of the four cases was anyone injured, but police are encouraging anyone who has been involved in this type of incident to come forward and warn anyone who sees and unknown person matching this description at their door to keep the door closed and immediately contact 911.
