Police identify victim of fatal highway crash

THUNDER BAY – Police have released the identity of the man who was killed following a highway crash Monday. Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP confirmed Tuesday morning that Dale Thomas Gimblett, 56, of Beaumont, Alta.

Officials with the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP confirmed Tuesday morning that Dale Thomas Gimblett, 56, of Beaumont, Alta., was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on Highway 11/17.

Police responded to the crash in the Municipality of Shuniah near the McTavish Dump, about one kilometres east of Silver Lake Road.

Police say a single commercial tractor trailer unit was travelling east when it left the roadway and came to a stop in a nearby ditch.

Hydro lines were damaged as a result of the crash.

The investigation into the crash and the man’s death remains under investigation.

A post-mortem examination will take place in Thunder Bay.
