UPDATE: Armed robbery suspect arrested

A store clerk suffered minor injuries following a robbery at Barbs Laundromat, police apprehend suspect.

THUNDER BAY - A 24-year-old male was taken into custody following an armed robbery on the city’s south side Friday night.

According to a Thunder Bay Police Service media release, a male entered Barb’s Laundromat on North May Street just before 9 p.m. on Friday. The male was armed with a weapon and demanded money from the store clerk.

The clerk resisted and suffered minor injuries. The suspect then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was located near Victoriaville Mall and tried to flee, but was apprehended after a short foot chase by police.

The man will appear in court on Feb. 26.
