Police investigate assault involving weapons at north-side hotel

Two taken to hospital after several individuals force way into room Midtown Inn and assault occupants.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a hotel in the zero-to-100 block of Cumberland Street North at around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 following reports of a possible assault in progress. 

Police learned that several individuals had forcefully entered a room in the Midtown Inn and assaulted two occupants. Weapons were involved in this assault. 

Both victims were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment. The nature of the victims’ injuries are not known at this time, but are not life-threatening. 

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding this assault.
