Police investigate attempted murder in south end

Thunder Bay police are investigating an attempted homicide after a man sustained gunshot injuries in the city's south end early Friday morning.

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay police are investigating an attempted homicide after a man suffered a suspected gunshot wound in the city’s south end early Friday morning.  

Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service were dispatched to the regional hospital just after 5:40 a.m. Friday following reports of a man suffering injuries from a recent shooting.

A police investigation indicates the shooting likely occurred around the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Marks Street in the early morning hours on Friday.

The TBPS is appealing to area residents and businesses to share surveillance or dash camera footage from around the time of 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.

Investigators are specifically looking for footage from the Victoria Avenue area between Waterloo Street North and Brodie Street South.

Anyone who has footage or information that could assist investigators is asked to call police at (807) 684-1200 and cite Incident No. TB22066392.

The investigation comes as officers were still holding the scene of a suspected homicide that occurred at a Pearl Street residence Thursday night, the city’s 14th of the year.
