Thunder Bay Police Service officers are investigating an incident that took place just after midnight Sunday in the County Park Area.

Police say a man pushed a 17-year-old girl to the ground on County Park Boulevard near Wentworth Crescent. Police believe the male suspect intended to sexually assault the girl.

The suspect fled when two men, both described as being in their late 20s, intervened.

The two men walked the girl part of the way to her home. The victim was not injured in the attack, police said.

Investigators are now looking for the two men who intervened, and encourage them to contact police.

Police describe the suspect as an aboriginal Canadian male in his early 20s. The suspect stands about six-feet tall and has a thin build. Police believe the suspect wore black pants, coat, neck warmer and a black baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
